History
The Maliguda Tunnel Bridge was built during the 1960s and 1970s as a part of the Kottavalasa–Kirandul (KK) railway line. This project was developed to transport iron ore from the Bailadila mines in Chhattisgarh to the Visakhapatnam Port. The construction was done with technical support from Japanese engineers, which makes it one of the few railway projects in India built with foreign collaboration.
Maliguda Tunnel Bridge stands out because it is the highest broad-gauge railway tunnel bridge in India, and the second highest in Asia. The railway line it belongs to passes through valleys, tunnels, and green forest-covered hills.
