Bhimkund has strong connections to ancient Indian mythology, especially the Mahabharata. It is believed that Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers, created the kund during their exile. According to the legend, when their mother Kunti felt thirsty, Bhima struck the ground with his mace (gada), and water sprang out from that spot. The place where the water collects is now known as Bhimkund.
