Chandrabhaga Sea Beach (2)

Chandrabhaga Beach has both mythological and cultural importance. As per ancient stories, Chandrabhaga was the daughter of a sage. She chose to give up her life in the sea rather than lose her purity. The beach is named after her and is still remembered in local traditions.

Long ago, people used to believe that the waters of Chandrabhaga had healing powers. Many pilgrims come here every year during the Chandrabhaga Mela to take a holy dip in the sea. This fair is held in the month of Magha (January–February).
